Family programs are designed to encourage children ages 4-12 and their parents or caregivers to observe, discuss, and explore art together while developing a sense of life-long experimentation, critical thinking, and creative expression. Participants have the opportunity to work directly with contemporary artists, Museum educators, and each other.
This season, we are pleased to invite families to experience the exhibition Alexander Calder: The Paris Years, 1926-1933.
Registration is required for all programs, and is now available online through the links below.
Cost: $10 for non-member families (Museum Admission is included). Member families enter free. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum Admissions Desk the day of the program.
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before a program is scheduled to begin to check in. Programs will begin promptly at the scheduled time. If you are bringing a child younger than the ages listed for a specific program, please have one adult for each of those children.
For questions or for more information, email familyprograms@whitney.org, or leave a message on our hotline at 212-671-5300.

In the past, they have created dioramas of actual or imagined events, and used video and sound to create a narrative environment. For families with kids aged 6-10
Tuesdays in January
In conjunction with the Calder in Paris exhibition, the Whitney invites children aged 6-10 and one parent to participate in a four-week long after-school course. During the course, families will learn about Calder’s work and influences, spending time looking closely and talking about these intriguing and fun works of art. Inspired by what they have learned, they will explore sculptural principals such as balance, form, and space to create their own collaborative artworks. The course will take place after school in January.
