For Visitors Who Use Mobility Aids

Mobility Aids
Entrance:
The Museum’s main entrance is accessible on Madison Avenue between 74th and 75th Streets.

Admissions:
To avoid the wait, please use the express line noted by the Express Line stanchion near the main entrance. Visitors with disabilities may proceed to the far end of the Admissions Desk to purchase tickets, and for additional access services.

Wheelchairs:
Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the coat-check area in the Museum lobby on a first-come, first-served basis.

Service Animals:
Service animals are welcome.

Restrooms:
Public restrooms on the second floor are accessible, as well as the women's restroom in the Lower Lobby.

For Visitors Who Are Blind or Partially Sighted

Verbal Description Tours:
Verbal description tours of Museum galleries are available upon request with three weeks advance notice.

Large Print

Large Print:
Labels and brochures are available in large print for many exhibitions free of charge upon request at the Information Desk in the Museum lobby.

Braille

Braille:
Requests for publications in Braille are honored at accessfeedback@whitney.org or voice 212.570-7719.

For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Hard of Hearing

In the Galleries:
Video artworks identified by the assistive listening symbol are installed with an infrared assistive listening system.  Free portable infrared receivers with headsets and neckloops are available at the Information Desk in the Museum lobby.

Gallery Tours/Selected Public Programs:
Portable FM assistive listening devices with headsets and neckloops are available free of charge for docent tours in the Museum galleries. Please request receivers at the Information Desk in the Museum lobby.

Theater:
The Kaufman Astoria Film & Video Gallery located on the 2nd floor is equipped with a permanent infrared assistive listening system. Free portable infrared receivers with headsets and neckloops are available at the Information Desk in the Museum lobby.

ASL

Whitney Signs:
Whitney Signs, a free gallery tour led by a Museum educator who is deaf, is held monthly. The tour is voice-interpreted and free of charge. For dates of upcoming Whitney Signs, please contact asl_tours@whitney.org. Check-in is in the Museum lobby.

ASL students, please note: We regret that complimentary tickets will not be available for ASL students; regular student admission is $10 with a valid student ID. Museum staff/interpreters will not be able to sign student assignments.

Private American Sign Language Tours:
Private gallery tours are available in ASL upon request with three weeks advance notice.  Please contact asl_tours@whitney.org for more information.

CART

Captioning:
Real-time captioning (CART) for public programs is available upon request with three weeks advance notice. This accommodation is contingent upon the availability of captioners.

The Whitney Museum’s American Sign Language programming is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
