Young Art Patrons of the
Whitney Museum of American Art

The Whitney Contemporaries is a dynamic group of art patrons between the ages of twenty-one and forty, committed to supporting the Whitney as the preeminent forum for American art of our time. In return for their support, Contemporaries are guaranteed exclusive access to the Whitney's unparalleled resources and the New York art scene.

Through membership dues and revenue raised through fundraising events, the Contemporaries support the Contemporary Series, an ongoing program designed to take the pulse of today's art scene by featuring recent work and commissions by emerging and mid-career artists. Besides taking advantage of our unique programming, the Contemporaries receive free admission to all exhibitions, invitations to opening receptions, reduced admission prices for public programs, and discounts at the Whitney Museum Store and Sarabeth's Restaurant at the Whitney.

Exclusive Contemporaries activities include
  • Invitations to behind-the-scenes tours of major exhibitions at the Whitney with Museum curators
  • Visits to New York art galleries and artists' studios
  • Visits to private collectors' homes and/ or viewings of their collections
  • Special programs with contemporary artists
  • Individual member benefits (you may choose to join at a higher membership level for additional benefits)
  • Invitations to the annual Whitney Gala's After Party and the Art Party
