  A message about charitable giving from Chuck
CloseDear Friend, If there is one museum that artists call home, it's the Whitney Museum of American Art—the only museum that champions American artists at every stage of their careers. Since its inception, the Whitney has supported our country's greatest artists during their early years—Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, Louise Bourgeois, Jasper Johns, and Cindy Sherman, to name a few. Nothing in my career has meant more to me than my first inclusion in the Whitney Biennial more than forty years ago. Words cannot express the excitement I felt as a young, emerging artist having my first museum exposure, or the thrill of having my work hang on the wall next to those of my heroes, as well as my contemporaries. As a Whitney Trustee, I ask you today to join me in supporting the Whitney's mission to create opportunities for groundbreaking new works, while preserving and interpreting our cultural heritage for generations to come. To sustain and maximize our ability to present revolutionary American artists and media, we need your support.
