Do I have to wait in the general admission ticket line? Do I need to make a reservation to visit?
Members do not have to wait in the general admission ticket line or make advance reservations. To access the Museum, scan your membership card(s) at the entry point near the elevators. If you don’t have your membership card, please check in by name with an ID at the Member Services Desk. If you need to purchase discounted general admission tickets for any guests, please stop by the Member Services Desk.
Does the Whitney offer discounted general admission tickets for guests of members?
Yes! Current members enjoy 50% off of general admission tickets for accompanied guests (limits and exclusions apply). Discounted tickets can be purchased at the Member Services Desk.
How many people can visit using my membership?
Individual as well as Student, Artist, Senior, and National/International memberships provide admission for the one cardholder. Dual level membership provides admission for the two card holders; please present both cards for admission.
Friend and Patron level memberships provide admission for two members and two accompanied guests. Circle membership provides admission for two members and up to four accompanied guests. Fellow and Sponsor memberships provide admission for two members and up to six accompanied guests.
Contemporaries membership provides admission for two members and two accompanied guests. Contemporaries Patron membership provides admission for two members and up to four accompanied guests.
I just joined or renewed my membership. When will my membership card arrive?
Your membership materials should arrive by mail two to three weeks after your membership contribution has been processed. You can always check in by name with an ID at the Member Services Desk.
I lost my membership card. Can I get a replacement?
Yes! Please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (212) 570-3641. We’ll place an order for a replacement card, which should arrive within two weeks.
When does the 2019 Whitney Biennial open? Are there member previews?
The Biennial opens to the public on Friday, May 17, 2019. Member previews are taking place Tuesday, May 14 through Thursday, May 16, 12–5 pm.
Do members need to purchase tickets to see the Biennial?
No, your membership card will provide express admission to the exhibition. No need to wait in the general admission ticket line. If you don’t have your card, check in with a photo ID at the Member Services Desk.
Do members need to make a reservation in advance for the Biennial or can they visit anytime?
Members can visit anytime during the Museum’s regular hours. As always, present your membership card(s) near the elevators to enter the Museum.
Can members bring guests to visit the Biennial? Do guests need to pre-purchase tickets?
Members at every level can purchase discounted tickets for guests (50% off general admission) at the Member Services Desk (limits apply) during the Museum’s regular hours. Please note: discounted guest tickets must be purchased in-person at the Member Services Desk and are not available for advance purchase online.
Are there any special members-only opportunities for the Biennial?
Yes! Daytime member previews are happening on May 14–16, and there will be weekend morning access every Saturday and Sunday in May 18–June 30. Additionally four celebratory Member Nights are planned between May and September. For more details, visit the online calendar.
Members also enjoy free or discounted tickets to Biennial films screenings, performances, and public programs including panel discussions and artist talks.

Where is the 2019 Whitney Biennial in the Whitney’s building?
The Biennial is installed in a number of spaces throughout the Museum: Floors 5 and 6, including the outdoor galleries; Floor 3; and Floor 1.
