Breakfast with the Director

Tues, Dec 4, 2018
8:30–10 am

Floor 8

Fellow and Sponsor members

This edition of the semiannual breakfast features an engaging conversation between Adam D. Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown Director, and Donna De Salvo, Deputy Director for International Initiatives and Senior Curator.

In 1986, Donna De Salvo worked directly with Andy Warhol while organizing two exhibitions of his work at the Dia Art Foundation in New York. This experience profoundly influenced her development as a curator and also informed her career-long thinking and work on Warhol’s art. In addition to the current Whitney retrospective Andy Warhol—From A to B and Back Again, De Salvo has organized five exhibitions of Warhol’s work including a 2002 retrospective held at the Tate Modern, London.

De Salvo joined the Whitney in 2004 and served as the Museum’s first chief curator from 2006 to 2015. She was instrumental in guiding the design of the Whitney’s downtown building and led the curatorial team for its 2015 inaugural collection display America Is Hard to See.

Fellow and Sponsor members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Registration instructions will be provided by email. To join or upgrade, call (212) 570-3641.
