The Whitney is open late—just for members! Celebrate with fellow supporters and enjoy everything the Museum has to offer. In addition to gallery access, the evening includes Whitney teaching fellow-led exhibition talks, members-only dining and shopping, and more.

Artmaking: Deep Color Experiments
Hearst Artspace

Join artist and educator Jaqueline Cedar to explore how geometric line and contrasting colors can create depth and materiality on a 2D surface during this drop-in drawing and watercolor painting workshop. Paintings by Helen Frankenthaler, Alvin Loving, and Kenneth Noland, all featured in Spilling Over: Painting Color in the 1960s, will serve as touchstones.

Critical Looking Seminar: After Modernism

Several Biennial artists including Tomashi Jackson and Matthew Angelo Harrison grapple with history of modernist abstraction epitomized by figures such as Josef Albers, Larry Bell, and Robert Rauschenberg. Teaching fellow Ayanna Dozier will lead a discussion addressing how contemporary artists critique and expand the canonical status of modernism as well as its ideological and aesthetic claims.

Studio Cafe
Head to Studio Cafe to savor delicious drinks and shareable small plates. All items are available for purchase a la carte; last call in the Studio Cafe is 9:30 pm.

All members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Members at the Dual level and above are welcome to arrive at 7pm for early admission. Not open to corporate and reciprocal members. Registration is not required; present your membership card(s) for admission.
